938 people are reported to have died in 24 hours

A further 938 people are reported to have died after testing positive for coronavirus in UK hospitals, bringing the new total to 7,097.

There are now over 60,733 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the United Kingdom as the
Prime Minister Boris Johnson is “responding to treatment” in intensive care at St Thomas’ Hospital. Downing Street reported. The prime minister had spent a second evening in the intensive care unit after being admitted on the weekend.


Ministers have warned it is still too early to discuss lifting the UK lockdown. Edward Argar, a health minister, said the number of cases need to start going down before measures can be relaxed. “We’re not there yet,” he said “and I don’t exactly know when we will be.”
The lockdown in Wales will be extended and not be lifted next week, First Minister Mark Drakeford has confirmed.

56 839 deaths have been reported across Europe; the five countries reporting most deaths are Italy (17 129), Spain (13 798), France (10 328), United Kingdom (7097) and Netherlands (2 101).
